2016 Procura+ Award winner Rijkswaterstaat joins the network

6 April 2017

The Procura+ Network is pleased to welcome Rijkswaterstaat as a participant. Rijkswaterstaat (RWS) is a government agency owned by the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment. RWS has a long and outstanding history in developing and managing the national infrastructures for roads and waterways. Since 2013 it also takes the lead in implementing national and international policies for environmental protection and sustainability, including policies on waste management, resource efficiency and public procurement.

In executing the implementation of these policies, RWS offers products and services that can be used by governments in all sorts of public-private collaborations and partnerships for facilitating, building and maintaining knowledge networks, acquiring and disseminating knowledge, monitoring, developing policy instruments and counselling on policy and implementation. As a result, RWS is the contact point on environmental issues for business, (knowledge) institutions and government bodies for information and advice, financing, networking and regulatory matters.

RWS won the 2016 Procura+ Award for Tender Procedure of the Year for the sustainable reconstruction of the Motorway A6. RWS procured works and services to widen the A6 motorway, aiming for the motorway to be energy neutral after construction. RWS developed instruments to calculate the CO2 emissions of the project, then selected a tender using a combination of price and quality according to the EMAS (economically most advantageous submission) approach.

RWS will share further information on SPP and PPI approaches and successes in their participant profile web page, which is currently in development.
