Procura+ Seminar 2008
Smarter engagement with the market in the pre-procurement phase
An energy-efficient future was on the international agenda when Birmingham City Council played host to the Procura+ Seminar on 'smarter engagement with the market' on 6-7 November 2008.
The Procura+ Seminar 2008 was an opportunity for local and regional government representatives from across Europe to learn and exchange experiences on how to use the pre-procurement phase to make smarter purchasing decisions, facilitate dialogues between procurers and suppliers, and reduce their cities' energy and CO2 emissions. Supported by the European SMART SPP project, participants discussed next steps towards purchasing sustainably innovative products. A dialogue between manufacturers of electric vehicles and LED lighting with procurers and other experts was encouraged.
Goals and objectives of the Seminar
- Identify suitable emerging technologies in the latest stages of development that can be tendered for to bring them onto the market
- Meet and discuss with both procurers and suppliers from across the continent, as well as other key organisations involved in public procurement
- Receive up-to-date information on the latest developments regarding emerging technologies and green public procurement (GPP).
- Provide input into ongoing strategic discussions on these topics at the European level
