Ville de Lille

Lille is a city in northern France. It is the principal city of the Lille Métropole, the fourth-largest metropolitan area in the country behind those of Paris, Lyon and Marseille. Lille is situated on the Deûle River, near France's border with Belgium. It is the capital of the Nord-Pas de Calais region and the prefecture of the Nord department and has a population of 226,014.

 

Sustainable Procurement Activities

The public procurement department has re-organised and centralised its activities. A project aiming at 50% organic products in public catering was implemented in 2009.

The City has started implementing a comprehensive sustainable procurement strategy, which should be officially adopted by the Municipal Council in at the beginning of 2010. It includes creating jobs, strengthening the local economy and furthering sustainable development.
