Auxilia

Auxilia is an association integrated in the French SOS group. It was launched in November 2001 with the objective to support policy and decision makers with the implementation of local sustainable development policies and projects in their cities, towns, regions and villages.

Presently Auxilia provides assistance and practical answers to the increasing number of emerging demands from local communities asking for methodological support to define, implement and assess their sustainable development related projects.

To achieve its mission, Auxilia develops research and experimentation activities, fosters exchanges and partnerships and supports French local authorities involved in sustainable development projects. Furthermore Auxilia provides cities and towns with methodologies, tools and recommendations for their Local Agenda 21 implementation and offers them assistance along the way.

Sustainable Procurement Activities

The SOS Group’s Director of Sustainable Procurement negotiated a product list with its suppliers. The items on this list contain only eco-friendly products made from recycled-material such as pencils, writing pads, stationary etc. All cleaning products and detergents purchased by the association are also derived from eco-friendly sources.

Auxilia’s employees make an effort to practise what they promote by either walking, cycling or using public transport to go to work. Paper is re-used in the office and efforts are made to reduce wastage by buying re-usable bags and larger amounts with less packaging.
